Christine Howes MA
Christine was born and grew up in Bristol before going to art college at eighteen. She studied Graphics and Illustration at Kingston upon Thames and Central School of Art before freelancing as an illustrator for many London Publishers. She lived and worked overseas for ten years whilst continuing with this work.
More recently Christine learned printmaking at Spike Print Studio, Bristol and specialising in natural history subjects and landscapes, she now makes and sells her own fine art prints. She also teaches printmaking to adults at Spike Print Studio and enjoys working with children.
‘I make linocut prints, wood engravings and woodcuts. Each type of print has different qualities to explore. It is a challenge to produce subtle effects in printmaking!
I also enjoy other mediums such as pastels and paint. I am inspired by nature and detail, the shine of an eye or the texture of feathers.’
